Terms & Conditions

Upon commencing training, you will be required to sign a declaration to the following terms and conditions. We reserve the right to make changes to these and will give a 30-day notice at any time we make amendments.

Whilst the nature of training at The Academy Of Eastern Arts is safe and of professional conduct, we will not be held liable for any injury or death which may occur during any of the Academy’s training classes, courses, workshops, seminars and retreats. It is the responsibility of all participants to consult a physician about their health and respective suitability for training before commencing a training program and ensure they have adequate personal liability insurance cover.

1. Health Limitations

I am aware of any limitations to my health and agree to take full responsibility for not exceeding my limits and for any injury I may suffer during training. It is my responsibility to ascertain that there is no medical reason to prevent my participation. I assume full risk for any injuries which I may incur and waive any claim that I may have at any time for injury of any sort against any person or entity involved therewith.

2. Membership

Membership is compulsory after a one-month trial period. The membership fee will be fully refunded if cancelled during the first 15 days. From day 16 to day 30, a 50% refund will be given upon cancellation. No refund is available after 30 days. All training and membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Non-attendance for any reason does not warrant a refund or for carrying forward the class or membership fee.

3. Personal Property

All personal property belonging to the participant/attendee is the responsibility of the individual, and The Academy Of Eastern Arts will NOT accept responsibility for the loss, damage, or theft of any possessions belonging to any participants/attendees.

4. Cancelations or Changes

The Academy reserves the right to cancel or change the date of ANY classes or events for any unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, an additional class will be added to the end of the term, or the fees for the following term will be reduced accordingly. No monetary refund will be made. In cases of cancellation of any other events due to unforeseen circumstances, we will endeavour to offer a replacement event. Still, if this is not possible, we will fully refund the event’s fees ONLY. We cannot accept liability for any travel and hotel booking charges incurred or any other financial loss; otherwise, we are not limited to monetary expenditure.

5. Grading System

The Academy’s grading system forms a structure of development that allows the student to understand a broader picture of their potential development and where they are in their journey. (see assessments). Seniority is in order of longest-standing members of the Academy and not by achievement through assessments and training awards from previous or other martial arts training elsewhere. Each member is expected to conduct themselves respectfully towards each other at all times. The Academy reserves the right to cancel membership where appropriate conduct is not observed.

6. Video and Photography

The Academy reserves the right to take video and photography during all its classes and events and use these for promotional purposes. Any photos/videos taken during any of the Academy’s classes and/or events by any person(s) remain in the ownership of the Academy, and permission must be sought from the Academy director for the use of these materials. We will NOT sell any class and/or events photos/videos to third parties, and any promotional use will be strictly for the promotion of the Academy of Eastern Arts, such as our own website, leaflets, posters, banners, social media sites, etc.

7. Syllabus

The Academy’s syllabus is rich in content and has been passed down via an undisputed lineage traceable back to the founders of each system. In order to maintain a high standard, the arts, including the Qigong taught at the Academy, must not be taught by any member without permission from the Academy or the ‘Sha Wushu’ Head Office in Kunming, China. We have an assessment process for anyone wishing to become an instructor. (See Assessments).

8. Members Zone

All members are given access to our password-protected ‘members zone’ on our website, where instructional videos, documents and other privileged information can be accessed.  Access to the Academy’s members zone is strictly for the personal use of paid-up members, and neither the content nor access details to the site must be shared with ANY third party.  Any breach of this policy will result in the cancellation of membership and possible further action being taken.
